This piece born from the deep ache of disconnection—from the place I once called home. As a trans person, I no longer feel safe or seen in America; the political landscape has shifted into something increasingly hostile, making it harder to recognize the country I grew up in. This work is both a mourning and a meditation—a visual expression of the longing for safety, for belonging, for a future where I can thrive without fear. While I still hold a desire to stay, to fight, and to help shape this country into something more compassionate and just, I’m forced to constantly weigh that hope against the risk to my own well-being. Dreaming Of Another Home is not about giving up; it’s about asking hard questions: Can I still be safe here? Can I still call this home? It is a quiet resistance, an honest reflection, and a search for where I might finally feel whole again.

This piece is a photograph printed onto acrylic using a UV printer. The piece is hung and lit from behind, which pulsates in a rhythm with an audio piece.
